Pharco Pharmaceuticals, the first of the Pharco Corporation, was launched in 1987 as the third private pharmaceutical company in Egypt with 100 employees and 25 million LE in sales. Today, Pharco Corporation employees 5000 employees and boasts over 1 billion LE in sales while ranking number one in both units and value among all pharmaceutical companies in Egypt. Before launching Pharco in 1987, Dr. Hassan Abass Helmy visited RP Scherer in Germany and began importing bulk products for Alexandria Co. where he was the Planning Manager as well as the Head of the Pharmaceutical Export Council at CID.

The eighties experienced hardships and blocks on imports from RP Scherer causing Pharco to initiate the production of soft gels; the specialty of RP Scherer. By 2003, Pharco Pharmaceuticals purchased RP Scherer Egypt and today the company is known as Safe Pharma.

Pharco initially entered the market with V2 PLUS as multivitamins and FAWAR FRUIT as antacid. Today Pharco Corporation has over 300 branded pharmaceutical products in a variety of forms and dosages.
